The course is now ready to go. Once again I had to draw in the
string for you to see. The line coming from the bottom is the return
end. It goes around the right hand pulley, around the motor's pulley
and back out again. The pulley on the left is a hold-down pulley
that forces the line back down to ground level. It's wide enough
that even piece of fabric or fur can be used as a lure. Some dogs
don't react well to plastic, either because of the noise, or it's just not
real enough. The lure we are using here is a piece of black
"fur" from the fabric store (although we recently switched to
real rabbit fur). We usually use white as it
shows up better for us and for small dogs. The other circle is yet
another stuffed animal wanting to try out for the job of official lure.

Jack the Malamute gives the course a test run while MacEnzie waits for
her turn. Notice that both dogs couldn't care less about the stuffed
penguin that's still managed to stay on the course. You can
just see the line, and lure (now changed to white) in front of Jack.
